A Brief History Of Jack Daniel's
The success of Jack Daniel’s whiskey is even more remarkable when we consider that American Whiskeys , and in particular Jack Daniel’s Whiskeys, have gone through a tumultuous and long history with various states implementing Prohibition laws that required Jack Daniel’s to move operations from one state to another, eventually having to cease production from 1942-1946 due to a nation-wide ban by the U.S government on the production of all whiskeys- a decision made due to World war II.
The Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, also known as “Jack Daniel’s Hollow” was purchased in 1884 by Jack Daniel.
Interestingly, in earlier years , Jack Daniel’s Hollow was also chosen for it’s abundant presence of limestone(as pictured above “Limestone Formation”. Limestone was used to remove the iron content of the water used to make Jack Daniel’s whiskey.
