Truly Singaporean Makan and Minum Food & Wine Pairing Event: Amazing Australia
A Lasting Testament of Old Tradition Married with Old Terroir
Introduction to Our Event Partner: Le Vigne Wines & Spirits
It has always been our honour to host Lewis Mitchell and Patricia Britton(the owners of Le Vigne) at New Ubin Seafood. We have learnt from their experience and tastebuds whenever they grace our restaurant what liquor pairs well with what food & cuisine. Running the Exciseman Wine & Whisky bar, their plethora of experiences in F&B gives us great confidence in introducing these Australian wines from Barossa Valley, with Le Vigne as our partner for the event.
The Langmeil Winery & the Lindner family
Above is our distinguished speaker, Patricia, with a member of the Lindner family.
Langmeil Winery, located in the Barossa Valley, is special for its dedication to preserving the region's winemaking heritage, particularly through its old-vine wines. The winery is home to some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world, with plantings dating back to 1843. These ancient vines produce intensely concentrated fruit, giving the wines remarkable depth and complexity. Langmeil's commitment to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking methods, combined with modern innovation, allows the winery to produce wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Barossa Valley.
Dating back to 1842, the Lindner family owns Langmeil Winery. We call this event a “marriage” between old tradition and old terroir because the Lindner family has passed down the traditions and passion of winemaking and vino through 6 generations of the Lindner family. Join us as we explore these New World wines. We have crafted a wine pairing menu that combines traditional wines with thoughtfully chosen dishes, designed to provide a delightful experience that will tantalise your taste buds.
Come explore, discover, and discuss vividly with your friends(and new friends who you will meet!) the evolution of the wine as it ages in the glass. There are no wrong answers, only the right questions—which our highly qualified partner, Patricia Britton, will help guide you through as you navigate your wine pairing experience.

Our Distinguished Speaker: Patricia Britton
Patricia Britton entered the wine & spirits industry in 1995, where she marketed an impressive portfolio that included some of the biggest names in the business. Patricia first joined the Jardine Group (part of Bacardi-Martini), marketing a diverse wine portfolio that included top houses such as Petaluma, Brown Brothers, Taylors Port, Mouton Rothschild, Concha Y Toro and Champagnes Bollinger & Veuve Clicquot (even before Moet-Hennessy even opened their office in Singapore!). With her growing passion for wine, Patricia then joined industry giant Pernod Ricard taking care of top-selling wine brands like Jacob’s Creek, Wyndham Estate, and Champagne Pommery.
During this period, Patricia also served as Chairperson of the Singapore Australian Wine Importers Group – a friendly table created by the Australian Trade Commission to keep track of trends in the industry as well as discuss sell-in strategies. With these accomplishments, Patricia showed she was a pioneer for women in the wine industry, breaking down barriers and inspiring a new generation of women to pursue careers in a field that was traditionally male-dominated.
Patricia co-founded Le Vigne in mid-2002, with her husband, Lewis Mitchell, who also left the safety net of a full-time job to venture into the ‘challenging world’ of entrepreneurship! Today, Le Vigne celebrates their 21 years in the world of wines & spirits, with a diverse portfolio of over 50 brands of wines, whiskies, brandies, grappa, and spirits.
Patricia's passion for travel also takes her to the international wine & spirit fairs, as well as visits to wineries and distilleries to stay current with industry trends. "There's always more to learn about wine and spirits, and sharing that knowledge with others is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job."
Patricia was inducted into the Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne in 2017. Patricia often conducts wine talks, most notably at a Business Times Champagne Night with invited dignitaries. When not speaking, she enjoys being a hostess with the mostess – organising wine & spirit dinners with Le Vigne’s clientele as well as at The ExciseMan, a wines and spirits bar co-founded with her husband and business partner.
Brief Introduction to Barossa Valley and its famed Shiraz
Barossa Valley, located in South Australia, is one of the country's most renowned wine regions, celebrated for its full-bodied, bold wines. The area is particularly famous for its Shiraz, known for its rich, complex flavours and deep, dark fruit notes. Other popular varietals include Grenache, Mataro (Mourvèdre), and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as aromatic whites like Riesling. The region's old vines, warm climate, and varied soils contribute to the intensity and character of its wines. Barossa Valley's winemaking tradition dates back to the 19th century, blending heritage techniques with modern innovation to produce some of Australia's finest wines.
Barossa Valley Shiraz is renowned for its powerful, rich, and full-bodied profile. What makes it special is the combination of the region's warm climate, old vines, and diverse soils, which impart deep flavours and complexity to the wine. The grapes benefit from long, sunny days and cooler nights, producing wines with intense fruit concentration, typically with notes of dark berries, plum, chocolate, and spice. Barossa Valley Shiraz often has velvety tannins and a plush texture, making it exceptionally smooth and approachable, even when young. Additionally, the tradition of maintaining some of the world's oldest Shiraz vines contributes to the unique character and depth found in Barossa Shiraz, giving it a sense of history and consistency.
