Introduction to Cloudy Bay Winery

The Marlborough region produces roughly 85% of all wine exports of New Zealand. The Marlborough region is also famed for its Sauvignon Blanc(which some critics argue that the Best Sauvignon Blanc in the world comes from Marlborough). The wine production in this region started around the 1870’s, which is a relatively small timeframe, making its meteoric rise and growing popularity worldwide an even more astounding feat.


Introduction to Château d'Esclans

Château d'Esclans, a magical property, is situated in the heart of Provence, northeast of St Tropez. The 2 Rosé Wines featured are produced by Sacha Lichine, who has earned the moniker “King of Rosé”. With his acquisiton of the Chateau in 2006, Sacha Lichine’s vision was the create the greatest rosés in the world, igniting the “Rosé Renaissance”. Now in its sixteenth vintage, Château d'Esclans, is home to the Whispering Angel & Rock Angel Rosé wines.

Château d’Esclans Rock Angel 2021 (Rosé wine)

Grape Varietal: Grenache, Cinsault & Vermentino

Tasting Notes: Delicate red berry aromas with mineral notes, along with floral hints and a subtle spice. Rock Angel is rich and racy on the palate. The use of partial oak aging adds a creamy feel and texture to this wine, and the flinty minerality embues it with another layer of complexity.

Grape Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Notes: A fruit-forward white with a stony saline character and impressive length. Packed with vibrant citrus and subtle stone-fruit flavours.

Tasting Notes: Ripe lemon with an intense palate of yellow stone fruit with saline acidity. Gentle notes of toast provide a savoury backbone.

Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2020

Grape Varietal: Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes: Fragrant, appealing and aromatic. Rose petals, dark cherries, and blackberries fill the nose. A core of rounded bramble fruit, ripe boysenberry, and wild strawberry. Silky tannins and fine acidity.
